Exploring the Demand of Food Factory, Realizing Core Value of the Platform
The International Machinery Zone of 2017 China Food & Drink Fair (Autumn) (hereinafter referred to as “Fair”) will be opened from 10.19 to 10.21 in Chongqing International Expo Center. According to the positioning of the autumn fair, we will focus on the leading food sectors in Midwest China, such as condiments, Zhacai (hot pickled mustard tuber), pickles, snacks, and specialty food from Sichuan, Chongqing, and Guizhou. We will provide relevant enterprises with advanced food processing and packaging solutions, realizing effective supply and demand pairing as well as the core value of the platform.
In June, the marketing team of the International Machinery Zone of the Fair visited Sichuan and Chongqing for the leading enterprises in Wenjiang Industrial Park and Shuangliu Industrial Park of Chengdu, the hometown of Chinese pickle—Meishan City, Sichuan Cuisine Industrial Park—Pixian County, and Chongqing Lidu Industrial Park, to understand development trends of various fields and the current situations & trends of food factories, and to discuss, practice, and transform the upgrade demands of R&D, technology, production, and packaging proposed by factories through the specific platform.

Development Trends of Hotpot Seasoning, Pickle, and Zhacai
Currently, the hotpot industry has about RMB 50 billion of market capacity. It is estimated that hotpot industry had an industrial scale of RMB 18 billion in 2011. For five years, the scale has been rapidly increased, and the size of the hotpot industry is conservatively estimated to be about RMB 40 billion now.
In 2015, the total output value of the food industry in Chongqing was RMB 136 billion, up by about 12%; and the condiment industry accounted for about 10% with an estimated output value of RMB 12 to 13 billion. In 2017, the Chengdu’s pickles and condiments manufacturing industries reached an output value of RMB 15 billion. They fully developed and utilized special chili pepper, Chinese prickly ash, lindera glauca (litsea pungens), and other spices, transformed traditional technologies by high and new technologies, and developed a variety of flavored and functional compound condiments. In terms of condiments and fermented products, Chongqing focuses on enhancing and developing hotpot seasoning, compound condiments of Sichuan cuisine, fermented bean curd, and pickles, achieving an output value of RMB 20 billion by 2020.
In 2015, the China’s Zhacai industry produced about 860,000 tons; in 2016, the comprehensive output value of Chongqing’s whole Zhacai industry chain reached RMB 9.5 billion; and the brand value of “Fuling Zhacai” reached RMB 13.8 billion. By 2020, Chongqing’s Zhacai industry strives to realize an output value of RMB 12 billion, while reaching RMB 15 billion for the public brand value of “Fuling Zhacai” as the “Brand King” in the city’s agriculture.
In 2015, the market size of pickles reached RMB 46.636 billion, and the future market of pickles industry will be larger. In 2015, the production of pickles in Sichuan was 3.3 million tons, accounting for about 70% of the country's output with a value of RMB 27 billion, and the output value in 2016 was expected to reach be RMB 30 billion. In 2015, the value of pickles in Dongpo District, Meishan was RMB 13.18 billion, a year-on-year increase of 9.1% with an added value of RMB 1.1 billion.
